Frequently Asked QuestionsHow many trainees do I need? The number of required trainees depends on your company’s average gross receipts over the past three years. This applies to companies bidding on and being awarded Federal-aid highway construction contracts.
How much do trainees get paid?Trainees are paid based on a progressively increasing wage schedule as they develop skills.
  • Minimum wage starts at the Federal minimum.
  • Wages comply with the Davis-Bacon Act prevailing rates for the county of work.
  • Current wage rates are available at SAM.gov.
Are classroom hours required? No. This program is strictly on-the-job training, providing hands-on experience in the field or shop.
How do I report and track hours?Submit a Monthly Status Report for each trainee, including both training and non-training hours.
